Genshin Impact is a popular game that keeps on growing its cast of five-star characters. In fact, it’s now gotten to the point that MiHoYo has to run double banners to give them all a chance to be wished for in a timely manner. If you are holding onto your primogems for a certain character, though, you’re probably wondering when they will rerun.

There are quite a few rules to consider when trying to figure out when your favorite character is going to rerun. For the most part, you’re not going to see them rerun for a couple of updates at the very least. As of right now, most characters rerun every five to six months, with some like Ganyu taking a year to rerun.

In addition, MiHoYo has stated that they will only get a banner if there currently relevant to the story. This really narrows down which characters are possible, as characters from older regions like Mondstadt and Liyue will rerun around the festivals of the region, as seen with Lantern Rite in version 2.4.

Typically, if the Traveler isn’t still canonically in the region where your banner character lives, there’s less of a chance for them to appear. Likewise, if they don’t seem to fit in with the current story, they likely won’t rerun either.
