With Final Fantasy XIV’s increased popularity, more players enjoy the popular MMO than ever before. New players may have a lot of content to experience, but starting the Journey to Eorzea can be a bit confusing for first-time players. Which version of the game should you buy? Check out our breakdown of each edition to find out.

Final Fantasy XIV has several editions, and each version has a different price point and content. We’ve listed the differences between each version of Final Fantasy XIV below:

New players can also play the contents of the Starter Edition free of charge until they complete A Realm Reborn and Heavensward, so we recommend taking advantage of the free trial for Final Fantasy XIV before purchasing the game.

On top of the upfront purchase price for Final Fantasy XIV, players must pay a monthly fee to retain access to the online servers and continue playing. Each version of Final Fantasy XIV comes with 30 days of playtime, so users will have at least a month to sort out if they’d like to shell out some additional cash.
