Bungie released the Year 2 update for Destiny 2 today that changed a great many things. In particular, it reworked how the entire weapons system works. However, Guardians may also have noticed seemingly new quests listed in the Pursuits tab that got them all excited about new, perhaps secret, quests. I’m here to disappoint you.

Pursuits Quest Steps

If your Pursuits tab has several quest entries as mine does, pictured above, then you may think you’ve got new content to explore. Perhaps you do. However, more likely you do not.

Quest steps like Premeditation, Initial Consultation, Lighting the Dark, and O Captain, among others, are not new quests. They are steps in a series of World Quests. These additional missions unlocked at the conclusion of the primary campaign and are aimed at bringing Guardians back to the various planets and expanding the lore.

They’re certainly worth doing if you’ve not completed them before, but they are neither new nor do they provide great rewards. In fact, they were most likely already listed in your director before the update, but Bungie saw it fit to consolidate these outstanding quest steps in the Pursuits tab. It makes sense, as it provides a much clearer overview of what tasks you have left to do, but it did leave many of us excited, if just for a brief moment.

In summary, the “new” quest steps in the Pursuits tab are just outstanding quests you chose to abandon long ago. Finish them off or discard them, but park the hype train.
