Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are mainline Pokémon entries, with differences between the two versions. From Pokémon that you can capture to people you can meet, here’s everything you need to know about the differences between Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet version differences explained
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet seem to have more differences than previous generations. To date, this includes the following:
Legendary Pokémon
Pokémon Scarlet will get the ancient Pokémon, Koraidon, and Pokémon Violet players will be able to get the future Pokémon, Miraidon. They’re both ride Pokémon that will replace bikes in Paldea.
Regional professors
Pokémon Scarlet players will be guided by Professor Sada, and players will meet Professor Turo in Pokémon Violet.
Schools
Since players will work for a different professor, they will work for different academies too: Naranja for Scarlet and Uva Academy for Violet. We are even shown what the crests look like in the June trailer. Pokémon Scarlet players will belong to the one that has an orange on it, and Pokémon Violet players will belong to the one that has a grape. Your initial uniform will be different as well.
Exclusive Pokémon
While an official list has not been revealed at the moment, mainline Pokémon games are notorious for keeping many Pokémon exclusive to encourage trading. This may include regional Pokémon, such as Pawmi, Smoliv, and Lechonk. We’ll provide the list when official information about this has been released! Aside from that, many things in both games will remain the same, such as the plot, places you can visit, rivals you compete with, and the Pokémon you start with—there’s even a new four-player co-op feature available!
