The Xenoblade Chronicles series is known for its unique locales and rich story. Although, at the heart of all the games is the combat and confronting the game’s many monsters. In Xenoblade Chronicles 3, there are four different monster types that vary in difficulty. Each of these monsters brings something to the table, such as the shiny—or lucky—monster.

What are lucky monsters in Xenoblade Chronicles 3?

Lucky monsters are one of the four monster types in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. They are recognizable by the shiny sparkle above their head. These monsters are not any more difficult to defeat than normal monsters. The difference is that once you defeat these monsters, they will offer far greater rewards than a normal enemy would. It’s best to be on the lookout for these shiny monsters while out in the world. 

All Monster Types in Xenoblade Chronicles 3

There are three other monster types besides the Lucky Monster in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. They each are identified by their own visual ornament above their head or lack thereof. Also, they each will pose different threats and give different rewards, so it is helpful to know what each one means. Below are all four of the monster types in Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

  • Normal Monster - These are enemies that won’t give you much trouble as long as you are at a similar level to them. These enemies will have no visual cue above their head other than their level. Lucky Monster - These shiny enemies will not be any tougher than normal enemies, but upon defeating them you will earn far better rewards. These enemies will have a sparkle above their heads that shows they are a Lucky Monster.Elite Monster - These enemies are slightly more challenging than normal. They are great for a quick challenge once you get used to the battle system. Elite Monsters are identifiable by the blue visual ornament above their heads, around their level.Unique Monster - These enemies will prove to be extremely challenging, even when you are the same level. You will need a good strategy before taking one of these on. They can be identified by the orangish-yellow visual ornament around their level.

You will encounter all kinds of monsters throughout your long journey in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. If you want to make sure that you are maximizing your earning potential, make sure to slay those shiny enemies whenever you come across them.
