Mutations are powerful bonuses players can earn when their infection status progresses. But, getting mutations comes at a grave cost. In short, mutations can have side effects and debuffs alongside bonuses.

Your health bar will also decrease with every mutation you get, with a max of six mutations. Getting to the max mutation amount is not recommended as you will have barely any health. Because of this, it will be next to impossible to survive encounters.

So what you will want to do is look for anti-virals to combat your infection rate. Anti-virials will stop your infection meter from increasing, so we recommend using it after getting one or four mutations.

Doing so will give you a breath window to quickly gather items and locate another anti-viral. However, you will need to search quickly for another anti-viral as its effects are not permanent on your character.

Where to find Anti-Virals in The Last Stand: Aftermath?

To find Anti-Virals in The Last Stand Aftermath, players will need to search abandoned military outposts, also known as HERC outposts.

Inside these outposts, players will find a single anti-viral that can pick up if they have a free space in their inventory. If players don’t have a space, we recommend using the one on hand and then picking up the new one.

Doing so will allow you to take advantage of the effects of the ant-viral and also keep the new one and save it for later. That said if you want to find HERC buildings, use focus mode and follow the syringe and circle icon shown above.
