Inscryption is a horror game that mixes a dark atmosphere with deck-building. To survive, the player must defeat their opponents in card matches while solving puzzles in the cabin. The player advances on the game board and can find items, cards, and other things to help them on their journey.
Boons are powerful effects the player can acquire throughout Act 1. There are two different ways to get boons. The first is to encounter the Bone Lord on the game map. This figure will demand a sacrifice. Whichever card the player sacrifices will be gone forever, but instead, the player will get a boon.
The other method comes near the end of Act 1. The player undertakes three trials from Leshy. Each one they pass awards them with a boon. Unlike the boon obtained from the Skull Lord in Act 1, which is useful during each match in Act 1, the player can only use these boons during the fight with Leshy.
Boons can have multiple effects—with Leshy’s boons being incredibly powerful. These include drawing twice or choosing which card the player wants from their deck when drawing. Boons from the Bone Lord are somewhat weaker such as starting a match out with a bone.
