Tom Hanks’s next movie will involve him working with Wes Anderson. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that filming for the next Wes Anderson movie will be done in Spain of all places. A Tom Hanks cameo is what’s being murmured about, but only time will tell.

The Oscar winner will be joining Adrian Brody, Bill Murray and Tilda Swinton for this yet to be named feature. I’m sure beyond those names we can expect to see the likes of Willem Dafoe, Jason Schwartzman, or maybe even Ed Norton. What we do know besides the cast so far is that, per usual, Anderson will be writing and directing it.

Wake Up Mister Wes

Before this untitled Wes Anderson movie is even shot, Anderson’s The French Dispatch will be released this October. While Hanks will be seen next in Apple TV+s Finch. Along with that Hanks will also be in an upcoming Baz Luhrman Elvis Presley musical (should be fun) and in Robert Zemeckis’s Pinocchio where Hanks will play Geppetto.

I know Isle of Dogs didn’t get the typical Wes Anderson reception most of his work receives. I haven’t seen it, but I can’t imagine it’s all that bad. What I feel really appeals to people about his work is how much his movies are his. You know a Wes Anderson movie when you see it, there’s never any doubt about it. Not to get too in the weeds here, but he’s about as much an auteur that we have. I know, I know you’re probably thinking of others that fit the bill. Edgar Wright perhaps. And his is too and so are the other directors that you’re probably thinking about, but this is an article about Wes Anderson so I’m trying to keep it as centered on his work as possible.

What’s your favorite Wes Anderson movie, and what’s your favorite Tom Hanks movie?
