Information on updated registrations for Mega Man 12, 13, 14, and 15 website domains have recently resurfaced, signaling that there may be something on the horizon for the 35th anniversary of the Capcom franchise.
Background on Mega Man 12-15 Domains and What It May Mean
Back in 2018, website domains for Mega Man 12, 13, 14, and 15 were registered by GMO Internet Group. This Japan-based provider has a history of registering various domain names for Capcom’s games on their behalf, most of the time shortly before said game is announced or released.
The Mega Man 12-15 domains were registered a mere few months before the release of Mega Man 11, the latest game in the franchise, and information has recently resurfaced that said domains were updated back in March 2022. While nothing has been confirmed or announced at this time, there is a high possibility that this is a sign that the new Mega Man game may be on the horizon and closer than fans may expect.
This exact thing occurred with Devil May Cry 5, which GMO registered only a few weeks before it was officially announced by Capcom. With the 2022 Game Awards just around the corner, this update could be indicative of Capcom making an announcement of some kind during the presentation.
However, it should be noted that the domains for Mega Man 12-15 are merely placeholders and do not explicitly confirm that there are 4 new Mega Man games currently in development. That will depend strictly on the sales of each title, but with Mega Man 11 recently becoming the best-selling game in the Mega Man franchise, Capcom’s plans may have easily changed.
Capcom is also heralding the release of a Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, which includes all six original Battle Network games, set for release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows next year.
