Batman vs Superman opened huge at the box office in its first week out in cinemas. However, the movie suffered a very steep decline during its second weekend. Warner Bros. is still satisfied with its global haul so far.
Batman vs Superman earned over $166 million in its opening weekend in North America. The movie declined by 68 percent in its second weekend earning just $52.4 million.
Globally, the movie has earned over $682.9 million which is higher than the total amount that Man of Steel made in 2013. The movie needs to make at least $800 in order to break even and Warner Bros. is probably hoping the movie should be able to join the $1 billion club.
Batman vs Superman is the start of the DC cinematic universe as it serves as a gateway to the first Justice League movie that will be out in November 2017.
