The Wavebreaker’s Fin is a four-star polearm that pairs well with characters who rely on their Elemental Burst skills to dish out damage. While the weapon requires careful team-building to become effective, it can prove to be useful in certain situations.

How to Get

The Wavebreaker’s Fin is a limited weapon on rate-up through the Epitome Invocation that runs from Nov. 2, 2021, to Nov. 23, 2021. Each pull costs one Intertwined Fate or 160 Primogems.

It’s not likely to become part of the Standard banner after this event, but there’s a good chance for it to return in another Epitome Invocation in the future. So don’t worry if you miss out.

Stats

Base Attack: 45-620

Substat: Attack (3-13.8 percent)

Passive: Watatsumi Wavewalker—For every point of the entire party’s combined maximum Energy capacity, the Elemental Burst Damage of the character equipping this weapon is increased by 0.12/0.15/0.18/0.21/0.24 percent. A maximum of 40/50/60/70/80 percent increased Elemental Burst Damage can be achieved this way.

Passive Explanation

The party’s maximum Energy capacity is based on each character’s Energy Cost. Essentially, you need to add up the Energy Cost of your entire party to figure out its maximum Energy capacity. Multiply it by the Elemental Burst Damage percentage increase (dependent on Refinement Rank) and compare the result against the maximum Damage increase cap to figure out how much you can get out of this passive.

So if you have four members with 90 Energy Cost each, your maximum Energy Capacity is 360. At Refinement Rank 1, Wavebreaker’s Fin should give you +43.2 percent Elemental Burst Damage, but since it caps at 40 percent, you will receive a 40 percent increase instead.

Who Can Use Wavebreaker’s Fin

The Wavebreaker’s Fin is unique in the polearm category in that it provides an Attack substat, which isn’t common for this weapon type. Its kit revolves around boosting Elemental Burst Damage, making it ideal for nukers who can spam their Burst.

The only caveat is that it relies heavily on team composition to increase its Damage boost, so take care to put together high Energy Cost characters.

Some characters who can use the Wavebreaker’s Fin include:

  • Raiden Shogun XianglingXiao Hu Tao

But as the weapon’s substat is Attack, you need to compensate for the lack of other core stats through Artifacts.
