We are less than a month away from the next big wave of amiibo on September 11, which is set to bring the remainder of Wave 5 alongside the release of Super Mario Maker and the 30th Anniversary Classic Mario amiibo. While no pre-orders or anything have been announced from anybody involving Wave 5B, they have now popped up on Target’s website with what is all but confirmed to be their retailer exclusive amiibo as well.
As found by members on Reddit and compiled right here, the placeholder pages for Zero Suit Samus, Ganondorf, Olimar, and the expected to be exclusive Dr. Mario have appeared on Target with placeholder pages. In addition, pages for the 30th Anniversary Classic Mario amiibo and Animal Crossing cards have shown up as well.
The question is just what this could mean for the coming days. Last week, Target only put up their exclusive Jigglypuff for pre-order ahead of time, while the rest of Wave 4 was relegated to in-store and online after the fact. The interesting part however is the response by the official AskTarget Twitter page when asked if they will let people know when the new amiibo will be up for pre-order like in the past.
They responded by saying to follow the official Target Twitter account for details on when these amiibo will be available for pre-order.The use of plural makes you wonder if they will offer more this time, which would certainly be great news with other pre-orders being so up in the air.
Also of note, according to an employee, Target has listings for all three of the Yarn Yoshi amiibo in their inventory. Previously, it was thought that the Blue Yoshi might be a retailer exclusive, due to being left out of the amiibo kiosks, but with it previously reported to be found in Walmart’s upcoming inventory and now Target, it appears that might not be the case. Nothing is confirmed either way however.
