Watch Dogs will indeed see a difference in resolution between the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions. Outline the next-gen versions of Watch Dogs on the Ubi Blog, the developers confirmed that the game will run at 900p on PS4 and 792p on Xbox One. The game will run 30 frames-per-second on both consoles.
According to the game’s creative director, “Resolution is a number, just like framerate is a number. All those numbers are valid aspects of making games. But you make choices about the experience you want to deliver, ” says Jonathan Morin.
Last week, Sony jumped the gun with an announcement on their website, confirming Watch Dogs on PlayStation 4 as the definitive experience on consoles. They had originally advertised that the game would run at 1080p and 60 FPS, before redacting the advertisement on their site.
While it looks like the game will indeed have a slight edge on the PS4, that gap doesn’t look like it will be as big as originally projected.
Watch Dogs is due out in May for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox 360 and PS3.
