DC and Warner Bros. are reportedly keen on producing Man of Steel 2 with Henry Cavill returning as Superman. According to SlashFilm, Warner Bros. and Cavill are in discussions to make a sequel to the 2013 film. Until recently, Cavill hadn’t donned the red cape since he filmed 2017’s, Justice League, though we did see him appear in the Snyder Cut of the same film last year. Cavill has been vocal about wanting to step back into the role, saying there is much more storytelling for him to do as Superman. Cavill has finally got his wish, as he will appear in a mid-credits scene in Black Adam. Now we may see even more of him with Man of Steel 2.

New Leadership at Warner Bros. Wants Henry Cavill for Man of Steel 2

According to GeekTyrant, the latest star to enter the DCEU gave an explanation as to why Henry Cavill has been gone for so long. Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson claims that the former leaders of Warner Bros. had no interest in bringing Cavill back to the franchise. Johnson was among the many who fought for Cavill’s return.

Warner Bros. has been under new leadership after merging with Discovery, and the leaders have been making many controversial changes in recent months. Such controversies have included canceling movies such as Wonder Twins and Batgirl and refusing to fire Ezra Miller from The Flash and the DCEU after the actor’s series of problematic legal issues. While many of these decisions have disappointed and outraged fans, few DC fans would be upset to see Henry Cavill return as Superman in Man of Steel 2, especially considering how many unresolved storylines he still has.

While Man of Steel 2 still remains only in discussion at Warner Bros., viewers won’t have to wait long to see Henry Cavill appear as Superman, as Black Adam will release this Friday, October 21.
