While it is seemingly random compared to the colossal amount of other games that are coming out or have come out, one of my easily most anticipated releases is Warhammer 40000: Darktide. As an avid fan of Vermintide 2 (perhaps a bit too much in the eyes of some), I’m thoroughly excited to see what this next game brings to the table. Especially with the 40000 period, seeing as we’ll be getting a range of actual guns instead of things like bows and magic staffs. And as if my excitement wasn’t enough, today’s news sure increased it. Warhammer 40000: Darktide has officially set its sights for a September 13, 2022 release date on both PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X|S. Check out the new announcement trailer below!
Why Has Warhammer 40000: Darktide Been Delayed?
Now, some of the more avid fans like myself may have noticed that this goes beyond the original Spring 2022 release window, though Fatshark hasn’t forgotten to mention that discrepancy in its accompanying Steam post:
As much as it’s a shame to see a delay, I’m fine with it provided it ends up being as good or better than Vermintide 2. As that linked screenshot above proves, I quickly fell in love with what it offered to the co-op FPS genre as a whole. Having something dare challenge that is a tall order, but one only Fatshark can likely reach. Thankfully from the glimpse of gameplay we were given in the trailer, I’m fairly confident the team will reach that goal.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the announcement though. Are you alright with the release date for Warhammer 40000: Darktide on PC and Xbox Series X|S being pushed back? If you play Vermintide 2, which character is your favorite? Let me know!
