If you’re a fan of Wargroove, you have some exciting things to look forward to next month. Announced just today on the game’s blog, Wargroove will be receiving a free update on February 6th, bringing a whole host of new content (PS4 version at a later date). You can expect to see things like a new co-op story campaign, characters, better online features, and more. This update comes a year after the game’s original release and is the first DLC to release for the title.

As detailed above, the game is getting a new co-op campaign. This campaign will be playable in couch co-op, online co-op, or solo play. Not many details have been given regarding the plot, but it looks like it will mainly feature the new commanders! There’s three more being added, known as Wulfar, Errol, and Orla & Vesper. This is the first time we’ve seen a 2-in-1 commander, and the two of them will bring a lot of uniqueness to the game. Coming with these three (or technically four) commanders is two entirely new units. You’ll have the thieves who can loot surrounding buildings and riflemen who are sure to pack a punch. Along with these three major features, there are also more Arcade missions, competitive quick play matches, lobbies, a new map, and more! If there were ever a time for you to get into Wargroove, it would definitely be this update.

What is Wargroove?

Wargroove is a turn-based tactics game developed by Chucklefish. You’ll likely know them from Starbound, Timespinner, or the original Risk of Rain. You play as a commander of your choice as you battle across beautiful pixelated landscapes against challenging enemies. The game offers a full campaign, arcade levels, multiplayer head to head matches, and more! If you’re interested in purchasing Wargroove, it’s available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC for around $20. Has this description and update not convinced you? Thankfully, we have a review of the game just for that, which you can find here. It was also nominated at The Game Awards for Best Strategy Game.

There’s really a lot to love about Wargroove, and this update will only emphasize that further. Are you going to play when the update releases? If you’ve already played, what are your thoughts on the game? Tell us about them, and stick around at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
