Tusk Thumpers are new enemies that you can fight on the Plains of Eidolon in Warframe. They are certainly worth fighting, as they drop some great resources, but to track them down it helps to know the Tusk Thumper spawn locations, and how these random encounters work.

Tusk Thumper Spawn Locations

On the map above, I have marked currently known Tusk Thumper spawn locations with blue icons. Because Tusk Thumpers are random encounters, they can potentially spawn when you come within a certain distance of these points. The easiest way to find a Tusk Thumper is to use your Archwing to fly to the Tusk Thumper spawn locations, and see if one spawns in. If it doesn’t, just move on to the next location. It shouldn’t take too long for one to show up at first, but after that, you have a potential 3-minute cool down until the next one can spawn.

How To Kill A Tusk Thumper

To kill a Tusk Thumper, simply shoot the armor plates off its legs, then hit the glowing green weak points underneath. The three different types of Tusk Thumper all have different amounts of health.

The level of Tusk Thumper that spawns is dependent on the global map level of the Plains at that time. If you are in a simple free-roam session, then the most basic Tusk Thumper will spawn. If you are doing a Level 5 Bounty, then the highest tier Tusk Thumper will spawn.

It helps to run a weapon or Warframe that can potentially slow down the Tusk Thumper, as they can dart about quite quickly for such a huge machine. Personally, I just used my Catchmoon Kitgun to burst them down, as that insane handgun rapidly cuts through their armor and weak points.

Potential Drops

The Tusk Thumper can drop any of the following mods, at a roughly 2% chance.

  • Augur SecretsAugur SeekerGladiator FinesseGladiator ViceStinging ThornTarget AcquiredVigilante OffenceVigilante Supplies

They can also drop large amounts of Plains of Eidolon resources, such as resources derived from fishing, and mining. As such, they can be great ways to farm up large quantities of the things you need rapidly.

Now you know some of the Tusk Thumper spawn locations, it should be much easier for you to track down and kill these enemies. Best of luck, Tenno!
