Popular free-to-play online action game Warframe is in development for Nintendo Switch, according to developer and publisher Digital Extremes.

The third-person game was announced as a future Switch addition at TennoCon, the third annual Warframe convention. A release date was not revealed, however.

In order to push the game to Switch, Digital Extremes partnered up with developer Panic Button, which has successfully ported other games to Nintendo’s widely-popular platform, most notably Rocket League and DOOM.

With nearly 40 million registered players, Warframe has quietly become one of the most popular games in the world. Behind just PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Dota 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Rainbow Six Siege, the sci-fi game was the fifth most-played game in the last month, according to Steam Charts.

While the game is undoubtedly a hit on PC, players will likely be anxious to see how it translates to Nintendo Switch, similarly to how Fortnite: Battle Royale fans were when its game was released last month.
