War Thunder has today launched its January 17 update on all platforms, so here’s the full list of changes and fixes with this patch. It’s important to note out of the gate that this isn’t a big update featuring tons of content by any stretch. This is merely a simple bug fix update, looking to tune up some otherwise underappreciated areas of the game instead. That isn’t a bad thing, mind you, but it’s something worth taking note of nonetheless. Hopefully, with the next update War Thunder releases, we’ll be looking at just a bit more content. Without further adieu, here’s everything new with War Thunder in its January 17 update!
War Thunder January 17 Update Patch Notes
- Physically correct moonlight has been added.
- Display of some objects (for example bushes and trees) has been improved when observed through a ground vehicle sight by graphic settings “max” and “movie”.
- MiG-27K, Jaguar GR.1A — a bug has been fixed that caused camera rotation while maneuvering.
- A bug has been fixed where Roland 1 missiles had a limited effective range within 1 km versus helicopters.
- Display of trophy contents has been improved.
The biggest standout of these bug fixes (if you want to call it a standout) is the correction of moonlight. Should that have been wrong in particular night battles, it may have caused major issues for those just wanting to take down their opponents. Having the display of some objects be fixed on higher settings is a good fix for the same reasons, seeing as these obstructed sightlines or distracting objects in the foreground could make the difference between a win or loss in a tough battle. All these other changes are great too, though those two fixes have the most tangible benefits.
War Thunder is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. For more information regarding this update, have a look at the official Steam post.
