Considered by many to be some of the greatest games of all time, the Fallout franchise is now being adapted as a TV show. According to a new report from Deadline, actor Walton Goggins will serve as one of the leads for Prime Video’s Fallout TV series. This new series comes from the minds of Lisa Joy and her husband, Jonathan Nolan, who is also the younger brother of director Christopher Nolan.
The world of Fallout is one of the more interesting in a video game series. The themes, narratives, and visuals of the series contrast American ideals of utopia from the 1940s alongside the harsh realities brought on by nuclear war. All of this begs the player to consider their own ethics and beliefs on society and even nuclear energy.
Although not much is known about the Fallout TV series or Walton Goggins role in it, it is believed that Goggins will play a ghoul. In the games, ghouls are individuals who have been mutated as a result of nuclear radiation. They often look like zombies because of their deteriorated flesh. However, they also have an extended lifespans and immunity to nuclear radiation.
Over the years, the Fallout franchise of video games have experienced record sales along with a number of Game of the Year awards. Adapting these games for a Prime Video series seems like a no-brainer, especially with Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan involved. Previously, Joy and Nolan created and executive produced HBO’s Westworld TV series. Jonathan Nolan has also co-written many of his brother Christopher Nolan’s best movies, including Interstellar, The Prestige, and Memento.
