Wally West has had a rough life over the past decade. He was written out of the DC Universe when The New 52 launched and struggled to find his way back. After doing so, he arrived home to find that his past with Linda Park was no more. Lost, he had an emotional breakdown, which led to the controversial Heroes in Crisis story. However, it appears that Wally may be running toward a new chapter in his life.
Wally West: Fall and Rise
The six-issue miniseries Flash Forward will see Wally West racing to battle an unknown enemy that threatens the past, present, and future. As the Dark Multiverse encroaches upon the DC Multiverse, one being chooses a champion to save an untold number of lives. Under arrest after losing control of the Speed Force and killing multiple heroes, Wally hopes to one day redeem himself. Now, with the nature of the multiverse out of balance, someone must stop the coming apocalypse.
Scott Lobdell is the writer steering Wally West into his next journey. Excited about taking the reins of the character, Lobdell aims to restore Wally to full-fledged hero status. “It was stated more than once, in the books and out, that the return of Wally West was about returning hope to the DC Universe,” says Lobdell. “With Flash Forward, I’m using all the breadcrumbs Wally has left behind over the last nine years to tell a story that ties up some threads and starts weaving new ones.”
