Uncharted is 12 years old and Nathan Drake, himself, has never played it – until now. It may be surprising to know that Nolan North, the voice behind Nathan Drake and almost every other video game character, is not that good at video games.  Uncharted is his biggest role. North repeatedly said Nathan Drake changed his life.

“This is the best role I ever had,” North said on his YouTube channel, Retro Replay.

Nathan Drake means a lot to North, but the Uncharted gameplay is foreign to him. Troy Baker, video game voice actor, and North decided to fix that via their Youtube channel.

Retro Replay is a comedy talk show where two of the most popular voice actors play video games. It’s about time they played Uncharted.

It took North 16 episodes to complete Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, the first game in the series. He got confused and angry throughout, even breaking the TV with his controller. It was all in good fun though. North was highly appreciative of the game and constantly praised it.

He also provided behind the scenes information about the motion capture and acting experience for the game. Baker was by his side the whole time, but mostly gave him unhelpful advice about where to go and what buttons to press. Several guests appeared on the playthrough including Alanah Pearce (YouTuber and game journalist), Rahul Kohli (actor), Alan Tudyk (actor), and Amy Hennig (video game director and scriptwriter).

Hennig provided valuable insight since she was one of the major minds behind Uncharted. She also repeatedly apologized for the dreaded jet ski level.

Ultimately, the playthrough provided insight into the world of making games and the voices behind some of the most iconic gaming characters.

Baker and North plan to tackle Uncharted 2: Among Thieves next and North is giddy with excitement.
