Indie developer Voyvod Arts have announced their upcoming narrative title One Spirit. With two trailers, artwork, and acclaimed voice actors on board, the team is gearing up for a successful crowdfunding campaign.

Welcome Home, Yuri – A Visual Novel

In One Spirit, the historical Iron Curtain in Europe still stands. The people have lost hope, their world is a bleak fantasy of depression, and the ongoing war rages on. We follow 18-year-old Yuri Danilin, who becomes entrapped in a mysterious situation where an activist has disappeared. Set in the European-inspired world Nevilyovsk, Eastern Sysica, One Spirit aims to alternate history by teaching a philosophical lesson in human nature.

Players will gain the perspective of not just Yuri but a total of 13 different characters. Society and the spoils of war have left the citizens of Europe in a state of constant dismay. By exploring each of their stories, you’ll be able to make critical choices that’ll alter the game’s playthrough. With this in mind, there are six individual subplots that branch from the primary narrative. Every step you take will determine what will happen next.

Official Kickstarter Trailer

One Spirit‘s inspiration for creation deals with the mucky and disappointing era of the Cold War. The Kickstarter trailer features both the visual novel and the character Yuri reflecting on the current situation and what lead to it. Yuri is voiced by none other than Yuri Lowenthal himself, who dons a more wistful outlook this time around for the story. You can also hear a snippet of the game’s original music by Álvaro Portabales.

This new coming-of-age visual novel will be kicking off its crowdfunding campaign next week on July 6. One Spirit has a Kickstarter goal of $21,412.80 (or 18,000€), and it will conclude on August 5. To get a sense of what to expect, Voyvod Arts released a demo for the game on Steam and Itch.io. It’ll provide 60 minutes of introductory content to get players invested in the narrative.
