Visceral Games promises the single-player campaign in Battlefield: Hardline won’t be as linear and uninspiring like in the previous games in the series.
Visceral Games’ creative director Ian Milham talked more on Battlefield: Hardline during an interview with Rock Paper Shotgun. He said the single player campaign will give players “more tactical choice, more player choice”. He also added that the campaign won’t be linear as it’s not a game where you “just shoot everybody”.
After the lackluster single player campaigns in Battlefield 3 and 4, Visceral Games hopes to buck that worrying trend. The development studio was responsible for making the successful Dead Space trilogy. Battlefield: Hardline will be somewhat of a new territory for them as it will be their first FPS game.
One other reason they want to improve the single player mode is because you are a police officer. Police officers don’t usually walk on foot shooting everyone in sight like in most other FPS games. Battlefield: Hardline will let you drive police cars and even helicopters. I’m sure there will be even more interesting stuff to be shown closer to the game’s release date.
Battlefield: Hardline releases October 21st for the PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360.
