I adore Vermintide 2. It’s an excellent blend of the Warhammer universe, and horde based Left 4 Dead style gameplay. Up to four heroes take on the denizens of Chaos and the sneaky rats of the Skaven as they brawl across massive levels. You hit things with hammers. You hit things with swords. You cause little rat bodies to explode. It is exactly the right way to use the Warhammer license if I am honest.
Good news for Xbox One fans has arrived, because Vermintide 2 will be coming to your console on July 11. Even better news for now though, as the Open Beta begins today, as part of the Xbox Insider Program. I strongly suggest you download it, grab three buddies, and get stuck in. It’s pretty much the perfect party game, and I really do feel it is worth people’s time. Not trying it out in the Open Beta would be a big mistake.
You can also pre-order the game from today, should you enjoy the Beta enough. The Standard Edition will be available via Xbox Game Pass from launch day, which is some fantastic news for people who use the service. You will be able to upgrade to the Premium Edition should you wish to. The Premium Edition will include a statue of Sigmar for your Keep, special skins for your heroes, six exclusive Heroic Deeds, and exclusive portrait frames.
People who have the Xbox One X will be happy to know that the game is capable of native 4k on that system. This one is definitely worth a shot, and with the Open Beta and Game Pass, there are no excuses! Go forth, and put a hammer between the eyes of the first rat you see!
Vermintide 2 is a visually stunning and groundbreaking melee action game pushing the boundaries of the first person co-op genre. Set during the apocalyptic End Times of the Warhammer world – the game introduces the dark, bloody and twisted forces of Chaos as an enemy faction. Other new features include 15 hero careers, new environments, talent trees and the proprietary Heroic Deeds System.
