Apple TV+ has announced a release date for its upcoming limited series, with Vera Farmiga taking the leading role, which will hit the service on August 12th. Five Days at Memorial will be based on real events as it is based on a novel of the same name by Pulitzer-winning journalist Sheri Fink, who explored Hurricane Katrina’s impact on a local hospital.
John Ridley (12 Years a Slave) and Carlton Cuse (Bates Motel) will serve as executive producers and writers of the show. They will direct some episodes of the series with Wendey Stanzler (Rebel). This project marks the second time the leading actress had worked with Cuse, as the two were a part of the horror drama series Bates Motel, which served as a prequel to Psycho.
Vera Farmiga will star in the Apple TV+ limited series as Dr. Anna Pou, who was arrested but not indicted for the second-degree murder of patients. The rest of the cast with her consists of Robert Pine (CHiPs), Cherry Jones (Succession), Julie Anne Emery (Better Call Saul), Cornelius Smith Jr. (Scandal), Adepero Oduye (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), Molly Hager (Happyish), Michael Gaston (The Leftovers), and W. Earl Brown (Deadwood).
