Venom: Let there Be Carnage ended with a post-credit scene. It is not surprising for Venom 2 to have end-credit scenes as, after all, they are the trends now. But the good thing is that it was worth the wait. If you’ve gone to the theater to watch Venom: Let there Be Carnage, sit down, don’t move until all the credits are done. The post-credit sequence of Venom: Let There Be Carnage is, in many respects, an unexpected pleasure. It not only showed further developments but also made way for the franchisee to enter into the larger superhero universe. Let’s explore Venom 2‘s post-credit scene.

How Many Post-Credit Scenes Does Venom 2 Have?

There is just one end-credit scene in the movie. We see Eddie sitting on the beach as the credits roll, but then Tom Holland’s Spider-Man appears and a link to the MCU is established. But the Venom Let There Be Carnage Post-Credit Scene opens many possibilities.

What Happens in Venom 2’s Post-Credit Scene?

Eddie is seen hanging out in what looks like a French Quarter hotel room, and Venom asks Eddie if he would like to take in the alien’s cosmic knowledge. As soon as Eddie accepts, lights flash and the TV interrupts: All of a sudden, he’s in a brand new, posh hotel room with a duck towel on the bed. A breaking-news alert comes on the TV that the MCU fans already know: It’s the same end-credits scene from 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home where J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons) publicly outs teenage Peter Parker (Tom Holland) as Spider-Man. “That guy,” Venom says cryptically as his long tongue licks Peter’s image.

After years of waiting, it’s finally happening: Spider-Man and Venom will meet in the MCU. Eddie somehow ended up in Marvel. It may be a variation of the timeline that has both Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Tom Hardy’s Venom in it. What about the rest of the MCU? There is no way to tell because the scene ends so abruptly.

Director Andy Serkis revealed that the stinger was one of the last elements to come together for Venom: Let There Be Carnage. “[The mid-credits scene was] 100 percent in flux, yeah. It couldn’t have been more in flux-y if you tried,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “There were moments where [Spider-Man] was going to be in the story, potentially, and then he wasn’t. But no, we decided that we wanted to examine the Venom-verse first. So as we were going through principal photography, the inevitable discussions had to be had, but it wasn’t until very, very late on that we reached the precise notion of the teaser that we wanted to lay in there.”

Spidey and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) join forces in the upcoming film Spider-Man: No Way Home (in theaters Dec. 17). The story arc revolves around Peter Parker’s secret identity reveal. Spider-Man’s other comic book foes, such as Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina), are also showing up in the film, so maybe Venom will show up as well.

What Is the Future of Venom?

Anyway, the reviews of Venom: Let There Be Carnage haven’t been that good. But the movie has made some significant box office collections. With Venom 2, Sony has created a little patch of Spidey-centric galactic space for Hardy’s antihero to exist in as it goes its way, spinning off from the MCU.
