The new poster for Venom 2 Let There Be Carnage showed its teeth this morning. IGN has revealed that Sony has revealed their new poster and a new trailer for the follow-up to Venom. It’s definitely got some teeth, to say the least. The trailer shows more of the buddy-cop humor that I enjoyed between Venom and Tom Hardy‘s character, Eddie Brock. In this new trailer, we also see the button from Venom being fulfilled as Woody Harrelson’s character, Cletus Kassidy gets his very own symbiote so that he and Eddie can play. Seems fairly standard.

Venom 2 Let There Be Carnage was supposed to be released in October of 2020, but with that darn pandemic ruining almost everything for us, Venom 2 Let There Be Carnage has seen its fair share of setbacks. Although now we should be able to see it on September 24th, unless they decide to change the date once again.

How Well Did Venom Do?

Venom was released back in October of 2018 to a warm reception. Audiences seemed to enjoy the dynamic of Tom Hardy and his symbiote. Although critics were on the other end of that spectrum, Venom did well in the box office and, after calculating the expenses, made a net profit of close to $250 million. All that means is that a sequel was all but guaranteed.

I was not the biggest fan of Venom. I was entertained with the back-and-forth between Eddie and the symbiote known as Venom. The action sequences were up to par with any CGI-heavy movie these days, but overall it just felt flaccid. Venom seems to be the rated-R side of the spidey-verse, right? So why not push for some R-rated content. It felt like they wanted to go down that route but had to pull back due to money-making concerns, but Deadpool and Deadpool 2 showed us that R-rated comic book movies play and make some good scratch too. Hopefully, the PG-13 rating for Venom 2 Let There Be Carnage won’t hinder it.
