While the extent of hardship that some notable vampires may suffer is simply “sparkling in the sunlight,” being a bloodsucking fiend in The Masquerade universe is far from easygoing. Leysha, a mentally unstable Malkavian, is caught in the middle of a web of interwoven relationships spinning around her. Yet, her sole desire is to protect her only daughter, whatever the price may be. Leysha is one of the three playable characters in the world of Swansong, who must all work in parallel to construct the connections between their interlaced narratives and unravel the truth behind the overarching plot. Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong is the 5th story-driven RPG based on The Masquerade franchise and is coming this year.

In the teaser, Leysha is playing hide-and-seek with her daughter, Halsey, but then everything takes a turn for the worse as fact and fictitious nightmares are separated with a very fragile line. In a clash for power, the player must aid their ghoulish clan by resolving conflicts and uncovering grim mysteries to enhance their vampiric powers. The purpose of the secret society of vampires is to enforce the “Masquerade,” which is the vampire law designed to conceal the existence of nightwalkers from humans.

The Masquerade series is well-known for its cult classic titles from the past. While the upcoming Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has its fair share of development hiccups, the fanbase is anticipating any releases from this unique IP. Swansong looks like it has an immersive story with intriguing characters set in a morbid world. However, the trailer has somewhat disappointed fans, especially in the visuals department, along with a lack of actual gameplay in the whole video. Notably, in a glimpse of Leysha walking towards a crime scene, viewers remarked how her “character walks stiff as a board.”

Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong is coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
