Some big changes are coming to Steam reviews, with Valve looking to make them more helpful and relevant to potential buyers. They released a new update post that details the changes in full, which you can read for yourself by clicking right here.
Among the changes are the increased prominence of recent reviews, which will help users to be able to more accurately gauge the current state of the games they are buying. These will be sorted by the most helpful reviews first, weeding out the joke/rant reviews.
The review scoring system will also be getting a major addition, as there will be a brand new “recent” review score that will accompany the overall review score. The recent review score will give you an average score of all reviews that have been posted within the last 30 days, though the overall score is not going anywhere.
Valve has been doing a lot to make sure Steam remains the cream of the crop for PC gaming, and these most recent changes will definitely be more helpful when it comes to games that may be going through a rough patch.
