The Steam Universe is expanding, and today Valve announced that they will be introducing the Steam Operating System. It will be a free OS designed for the TV and the living room. In their announced, Valve described the Steam OS as: “SteamOS combines the rock-solid architecture of Linux with a gaming experience built for the big screen.”
Valve claims to have achieved significant performance increases in graphics processing, and is looking to enhance audio processing on the new OS, saying that developers are already taking advantage of the technology for upcoming game releases. You can read more about the new OS, here.
Valve’s plans are to roll out these new features “soon”, and will reveal more details in the days to come.
