Ever since Valorant’s closed beta launch back in April, players have been waiting for the game’s 1.0 version to release. We covered the closed beta period and were excited when the game was announced to release on June 2nd. That day is finally upon us, and Valorant is now available in version 1.0. The game is available to download for all players, regardless of if you were in the closed beta or not. Along with the release, 1.0 brings a variety of new things along with balance changes and bug fixes.

Valorant’s 1.0 release primarily introduced a new agent and a new map to the game. The new agent is Reyna, who focuses on grabbing orbs from dead enemies to help her secure kills. Two of her abilities use orbs, being a heal that brings her to full health and an invulnerable state for a few seconds. She can’t shoot during the invulnerable state. The other ability is a flash of sorts, which doesn’t require her to have an orb to use. Finally, her ultimate ability increases her rate of fire, reduces recharge time on signature ability, and lets her use skills faster. It resets with kills during a round and ends after being eliminated, after the duration ends, or after the round ends. Reyna should provide a high risk, high reward playstyle to Valorant for confident players.

The new map is named Ascent, located in beautiful Italy. There’s a large area in mid, which should provide many options if attackers manage to take control of it. There are many opportunities for diverse ability use, so players should find a lot of interesting ways to take advantage of it. The map will have an increased chance to show up in the rotation for the first few days, so you’ll have plenty of chances to jump in and try the map out. Be sure to hop into Valorant and let us know what you think, as well as any cool strategies you think up.

To go with this, there are tons of balance changes, bugs fixes, map changes, and quality of life changes. Too many to cover here in fact, but no need to worry. You can find the full patch notes here.
