Square Enix has just released a puzzling new trailer that seems to be teasing a new version or potential re-release of Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth. The video, called “First Teaser Trailer 2018,” isn’t exactly informative, with bits of dialogue, text, and shots of the Valkyrie.

The video description, in Japanese like the rest of the video’s content, says “In 2018, the goddess descends.” That sounds a whole lot like an announcement for a remaster or a port, right? The rest of the text in the actual video says “You have the right to live. I am a selector of souls. I choose human souls like I’m picking flowers!? What is a Valkyrie!? Am I a god of death?”

There’s nothing conclusive here, obviously, but given that a new Twitter account was also launched with one tweet that reads “Starting today, we will share information on Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth #FirstTweet #ValkyrieProfile #VPLenneth.” it’s safe to assume there’s something big brewing for the game. Hopefully it means a resurgence for Valkyrie Profile in general, which is due for a new game right about now.

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth was released 12 years ago back on the PSP as a port of the 1999 PlayStation game, simply titled Valkyrie Profile. This new project could be anything from an HD remaster to a mobile port. We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but that Twitter account is certainly one to watch, as are the Japanese Square Enix mobile feeds.
