You may recall that a little while ago, Valheim launched an update that overhauled the AI, letting them attack buildings as well as the player, making them much more worrisome than before. While this may sound awesome on paper, as it makes Valheim a more interesting and challenging experience, the AI changes ended up releasing with many issues. The worst of all was that monsters would often prioritize breaking structures over the player, leading to them decimating half your base before you finally dispatch them. This led to much frustration, but thankfully with today’s update, those woes can be quelled. Valheim has launched Patch 0.156.2 today, which sees some tweaks to the previously mentioned AI issues. The patch reads as follows:

In rough translation, the AI creatures should always target players now if they can make it towards them. The only case in which a monster should target a building is if there’s a player inside that’s impossible to reach by conventional means. This keeps things challenging as you can’t always cower in large structures to avoid your foes, but prevents the monsters from becoming part of a demolition company.

This update is small in scope but should relieve Valheim players from a lot of headaches. There’s a lot of things to do in this game, and it doesn’t need to be hindered by wandering monsters tearing your base apart piece by piece. If you want to see all the (fixed) content Valheim has to offer, the game is currently 10% off as well.
