The Elder is the second boss players will encounter in Valheim. It is the boss that spawns in the Black Forest region of the map, and takes on the form of a massive tree-like creature. At this point, players should be fully geared in Bronze equipment and well-stocked with food. Unfortunately, finding and summoning The Elder is not as simple as the Eikthyr encounter. This guide will tell you what you need to know.
What You’ll Need
- 3 Ancient seeds
Like Eiktyhr, The Elder fight begins by placing items on a summoning altar. For this fight, you’ll need 3 Ancient seeds that drop off killing Greydwarf Shamans or Greydwarf Brutes. The easiest method for farming Ancient seeds is to find a Greydwarf nest and wait for the creatures to spawn.
How to Find The Elder
You can find The Elder by heading to the Black Forest region and searching for its location rune. This will appear in the Burial Chambers dungeon and is a stone covered in glowing red markings. Once you have interacted with the location rune, The Elder’s location will be marked on your map. Head to the location and use the Ancient seeds on the altar found there to begin the fight. The altar will appear as a large stone platform surrounded by pillars. It will be quite distinct from the forest around it.
If The Elder’s mark appears far away from your island, you will need a boat to get there.
