The Winged Horror is a vicious griffin-like creature in V Rising that resides atop The Dreaded Peak, located in a far eastern corner of the Farbane Woods. However, if players travel to this V Blood Carrier’s location, they will find that there is no path leading up to the beast’s lair. This is because the summit of The Dreaded Peak is only accessible to those with wings. In other words, to defeat Winged Horror, Vampire adventurers must first acquire Bat Form in V Rising, a Vampire Power that allows its caster to transform into a flying bat. With this ability, players will be able to ascend the peak and confront the Winged Horror.

Defeating the Winged Horror in V Rising

To obtain Bat Form in V Rising, Vampires must locate and slay Nightmarshal Styx the Sunderer, a Level 76 boss that wanders the Cursed Forest. Once players consume Styx’s Blood, they will be able to fly to the top of The Dreaded Peak and face Winged Horror in battle.

V Rising: How to Find and Defeat the Ferocious Bear

To defeat the Winged Horror in V Rising, combatants will first need to understand the beast’s mechanics. At the start of the boss fight, the massive V Blood Carrier will summon two chaos orbs to its side and charge at the player. Those who get struck will be knocked up into the air. The best way to avoid this ability is by dodging towards and through the Winged Horror. The boss will often follow up this attack with a tail swipe that fires icicle projectiles in a cone shape.

Next, if the V Rising boss flies into the air and hovers momentarily, stand back to escape its volley of blazing fire orbs. On the other hand, if the Winged Horror flies upward and disappears from sight, prepare to dodge several sets of a bomb-like AoE barrage. Another ability players should watch out for is the beast’s chaos fire breathe, during which the boss sprays the room with fiery orbs in a bullet hell-like fashion. The Winged Horror can also spawn a Frost Vortex, an AoE circle that pulls in nearby targets and explodes, dealing magic damage and inflicting Chill.

Another frost attack the Winged Horror can perform is a spinning icicle hurl, during which the boss spins, launching icicles in multiple directions. Every projectile will shatter into two more pieces as they travel. The Carrier will continue repeating all of the mechanics listed above until it’s been slain. A recommended way to deal with the Winged Horror in V Rising is by using ranged attacks like Chaos Volley to attack it continuously from a safe distance.

V Rising is available for PC via Steam.
