As you venture further into the world of V Rising, you’ll be able to unlock a plethora of new skills, gear, weapons, and more. You’ll need to make sure that you’re ready to survive the sun’s harshness, as well as the vicious enemies that are coming after you during the day, and at night. One of the best ways to make sure that you’re always prepared is by working on your Gear Levels.
What are Gear Levels, and what do they mean for you and your character? Let’s dive into this, and get all of the details you could need to ensure that your time with V Rising is spent enjoying the world, rather than in frustration.
Power Up Your Play in V Rising
In the world of V Rising, you don’t level up your character in traditional ways, but rather through the level of the gear that you’re currently using. This is very similar to games like Destiny 2, where your power is determined by the gear that you have, rather than needing to grind for hours to make sure your character is ready for the next level. You’ll be able to check your current Gear Score at any time by pulling up your inventory, or by checking the number near your health bar.
You’ll be able to tell if you are ready to take on an NPC based on a few things since you’ll have visual cues to know if you need to find some better gear. If you notice an NPC Character with a Skull next to their health bar, that means that you do not have a high enough Gear Level, and you’ll need to get some better Gear before trying to take them on. Also to note, you won’t have to worry too much when fighting another player, as Gear Score does not do much in that regard at this point.
You’ll be able to get higher Gear Scores by tracking down and defeating bosses, as they are going to be your main source of higher-powered gear. You’ll be able to find gear up to Level 80, as that is the current highest Gear Level in the game. Make sure that you’re using your Blood Altar to its full potential, and start taking down big bosses soon to start earning better equipment! As more and more players enter the game, Stunlock Studios may update the game with higher power gear in the future.
