Amiibos seem to be everywhere right now, even without releasing yet, and now Nintendo has revealed yet another game that the NFC figures will be compatible with during today’s Nintendo Direct, Hyrule Warriors.
Unlike Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, where it will be outright usable to track a character, amiibos are being used in interesting ways throughout other games. Using specific amiibo in Mario Kart 8 will unlock Mii racer specific costumes based off of the characters, which is neat and all, but Hyrule Warriors will take it to another level.
By using the Link amiibo with Hyrule Warriors, you will unlock a brand new weapon in the game, the Spinner. Exclusive to The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, the Spinner item was a very unique and somewhat polarizing addition to the series, mostly due to its mostly lack of use outside of the Arbiter’s Grounds.
In addition, every single amiibo will be compatible with the game, unlike Mario Kart 8. By scanning them onto the Wii U GamePad, you can unlock random items, rupees, and more in game. No further details were revealed, but support for the figures will come alongside the Twilight Princess DLC pack later this month, so we should know soon enough.
