The Tekken series is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and after six mainline entries, Tekken 7 was announced previously for arcades in Japan. However, the game is not only going to be exclusive to arcades now, as series producer Katsuhiro Harada took to the stage during Sony’s press conference at Paris Game’s Week to make a big announcement.
Harada was introduced to the stage in a funny segment at the end of the Street Fighter V portion, where they jokingly announced that Harada would be joining Street Fighter V as the final character.
That was not the real news there though, as Harada stayed on stage after the fact and revealed that Tekken 7 will also be coming to PlayStation 4. We’ve heard talk that this was going to happen in the past, but this is the confirmation fans of the franchise have been waiting for.
Not only will the game just be coming to PlayStation 4, but he also revealed that some sort of special content will be coming to the PlayStation 4 version, but he did not go into any details on that.
No release date was given for this version of Tekken 7 though, so we’ll have to wait to hear more about that later, perhaps at PSX in a few months.
Update: It was revealed later in the conference that Tekken 7 will also be coming to PlayStation VR as well.
