Originally announced for the PlayStation 3 with PlayStation Move Support, we saw the re-reveal of Supermassive Games’ Until Dawn as a PlayStation 4 exclusive at Gamescom. The game was slated to release sometime in early 2014, but during tonight’s The Game Awards, it was revealed that the game would not be coming until summer 2015 now.
Definitely showing similarities to another former PlayStation exclusive in Heavy Rain but in the horror genre, Until Dawn features a very hands on cinematic feel as you take control of players and make decisions in continuous quick time events. In a brand new world premiere trailer, the game looks absolutely gorgeous by building off the existing Killzone: Shadow Fall engine. The character animations look insanely realistic and the scary situation shown in the trailer is likely just a tease of what we will get in the final game.
One of the coolest aspects of the game is how characters will actually be able to die during the game, making the whole experience all the most intriguing. The delay to summer 2015 may be a good thing for the game, as the spring tends to get packed and the game can likely thrive in the summer more so with less competition.
