Universal has released a new trailer for Renfield, and it looks like this take on Bram Stroker’s famous character Dracula is going to feature some jump scares gore and a few laughs along the way. In this trailer, we see Renfield (Nicholas Hoult) step into a group meeting where he expresses a desire to get out of a “toxic relationship.” We then get a glimpse into Renfield’s life working for Count Dracula (Nicolas Cage) entails. This involves being available at Dracula’s every beck and call. The vampire wants his servant to bring him “innocent victims,” specifically requesting a “handful of nuns” and a “busload of cheerleaders.” However, after centuries of servitude, Renfield just wants a normal life.

Renfield Wants Freedom in New Trailer From Universal
Set in modern-day New Orleans, we see Hoult’s Renfield fed up and eager to leave his boss. His opportunity may have finally come in the form of a new love interest in a police officer played by Awkwafina. He explains to her that Dracula, his boss, gave him an extraordinary power that he repays by tending to the vampire’s every need, including care and feeding. During a group meeting, he realizes that if he stops giving Dracula his needs, he won’t grow to full power, which is exactly what Renfield needs to escape him forever. However, when Dracula shows up at the meeting, it appears that the Prince of Darkness isn’t letting his assistant go so easily.
Nicholas Hoult, who plays the title character, is known for portraying Beast in the X-Men movies and Nux in Mad Max: Fury Road. Along with Hoult, Cage, and Awkwafina, Ben Schwarz, Adrian Martinez, Shoreh Aghdashloo, and Brandon Scott Jones will star in Renfield. Cage has said he looks forward to showcasing a new and humorous take on the legendary vampire.
