Assassin’s Creed Liberation has been removed from Steam by Ubisoft, making it impossible to purchase the game. Also, even if you already own Assassin’s Creed Liberation, you won’t be able to play it starting in September.
Assassin’s Creed Liberation Is Unplayable On Steam
When a game is taken down because of a legal issue or an expired license, the game cannot be bought through digital stores after a specific date. However, those who have already paid for it can still access, download, and play the game. Ubisoft’s latest decision doesn’t seem to fit exactly those. The publisher has removed Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD on Steam. This means the action-adventure game is unplayable, and even those who bought it will not be able to access it.
The action-adventure game is the remastered version of the PSP game that connects to the events of Assassin’s Creed III. It wasn’t on the list of games that Ubisoft announced it would stop supporting this year, but now it has been removed from Steam at the publisher’s request.
As you may remember, Ubisoft announced that it had stopped support for 15 games, including the classic Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry. Ends of support mean all multiplayer features will be disabled, blocking access to any DLC.
There is another unusual decision in the Steam version. Generally, if you already possess a game taken off sale, you may still play it. For example, anyone who purchased Rockstar’s GTA Trilogy may download and play it, even if it was removed from Steam. However, according to Ubisoft’s Steam page, Liberation HD will not be available after September 1st, 2022.
The game has also been removed from Ubisoft Connect. However, there is no similar notification for other Assassin’s Creed games affected by the decision, so Revelations and Assassin’s Creed 3 are still on sale.
