First information in quite awhile for the movie.
The Uncharted franchise is definitely one of Sony’s best, though it seems to be getting a rest after Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. That is when it comes to gaming at least, as Sony has been trying to get a movie off the ground for awhile now and the movie evidently has a release date now.
A couple years ago it was revealed that an Uncharted movie was coming that would be starring Tom Holland, best known as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the MCU and the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home. At the time, this pick was rather controversial since Holland is obviously a lot younger than Drake was in the games. However, it appeared we might be getting an adventure focused on a young Nathan Drake instead, which did play a part in some of the games in the past.
We haven’t heard much about the movie in quite awhile, but easily the most connected figure in the business in Geoff Keighley put out the following tweet this evening.
With Keighley’s connections, there is no way he would have posted this unless he had actual confirmation. With Sony not attending E3 this year, maybe their plan is to stealth drop information like this throughout the next week to try and take attention away from other companies. Could we potentially get a The Last of Us Part II release date reveal sometime during E3? It’s possible, but I still wouldn’t bet on it as a sure thing.

Regardless, the Uncharted movie now has a date, which means it likely will start filming here in the latter part of the year with only a year and a half away until release. This means other casting news might come down the pipeline sooner rather than later, so we’ll just have to stay tuned.
