There are many times when people wonder if there is anybody in the world who still doesn’t own Grand Theft Auto V, after seeing the 2013 game still occupying high spots on sales charts. The answer keeps being ‘no’ as it’s obvious seeing the list of best seller games in the United Kingdom this week, in which Rockstar’s huge hit takes the number 1 place for the 14th time. There are only two games in history that have topped the list more weeks: Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and Wii Fit, with 18 and 16 weeks respectively.
Recent discounts by UK retailers already pushed the game back into the top 3 last week, and it seems that the closeness with the numbers of Call of Duty: WWII and FIFA 18 made it easy for GTA to going a bit further and reclaim the number 1. An important factor to consider is that the game continues to receive updates for its online mode to this day, making sure that fans have new experiences to enjoy even so long after the original release.
Of course, it also doesn’t help that there are no relevant game releases by major companies until January 26, when Capcom launches Monster Hunter: World for PS4 and Xbox One.
As for the rest of the top 10, it’s interesting to note the bump in sales of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which is at the moment the best-selling game for Nintendo Switch, just edging out for a few thousand copies Super Mario Odyssey.
