What do you get when you combine Ubisoft, escape rooms, and VR? You get Ubisoft’s new VR game, Prince Of Persia: The Dagger Of Time. Ubisoft has given us a new location-based VR escape room, which will open this spring with more than 300 total locations worldwide.
Like many escape rooms, Prince Of Persia: The Dagger Of Time, is a team activity, focusing on the adventure genre that the Prince Of Persia franchise is known for. It’s no surprise that Ubisoft has decided to move forward with its string of location-based VR escape rooms since its previous games, Assassin’s Creed: Beyond Medusa’s Gate, and Assassin’s Creed: Escape The Lost Pyramid were so popular.
“Controlling time in VR is a one-of-a-kind experience where players will feel the power of the dagger of time in their own hands. Time-control is only part of the immersion as we transport players to experience larger-than-life adventures in our games,” said Cyril Voiron, Executive Producer of Ubisoft’s Escape Games.
Prince Of Persia: The Dagger Of Time offers teams of 2, 3, or 4 players of all ages the chance to collaborate and solve puzzles to get out the revamped Fortress of Time. The story begins with players being summed by the Empress of Time, Kaileena. She asks that the players prevent a Magi from restoring the Hourglass of Time.
The Magi aims to restore the sands to the Hourglass of Time and then create an army of sand monsters. Players can work together to stop the Magi. Their teamwork solves their problems and completes objectives by using powers like time control, which they gain using the dagger of time.
“After just two years in operation, we have now partnered with more than 300 locations around the globe,” said Benedikt Grindel, Managing Director of the German Ubisoft studios. “What started as a pilot project became one of the largest distribution networks in the location-based entertainment market, which makes us really proud.” Ubisoft is right to be proud, if this new escape room VR is half as popular as its previous ones, it’ll be a hit.
