Ubisoft recently announced that they will be bringing at least 5 announced games to E3 2014, however, none of them will be releasing on the WiiU or 3DS. The games are:
- Assassin’s Creed Unity, scheduled to release for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
- The Crew, scheduled to release for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. It will also have companion apps for Android and iOS.
- Tom Clancy’s The Division, scheduled to release for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
- Far Cry 4, scheduled to release for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC.
- Valiant Hearts: The Great War, scheduled to release for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC June 25.
At E3, Ubisoft will hold an extended version of the UPlay Lounge. Held at the Standard Hotel in Los Angeles, UPlay Lounge allows more than 1,000 UPlay members the opportunity to play the aforementioned 5 games.
According to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, “2014 is the most exciting year the gaming industry has seen in a while. At E3, we can’t wait to share our future of gaming. Ubisoft teams have fully embraced this new generation and will demonstrate how they are bringing breakthrough innovations to our beloved franchises and beyond in order to offer players the most original and memorable gaming experiences.”
This continues a trend for Nintendo and the WiiU, which has been plagued by disappointing sales and lack of third-party support. Even Ubisoft, arguably the staunchest supporters of the WiiU at launch, have seemingly phased out the platform, with titles such as Watch Dogs releasing later on the WiiU platform and now the refusal to launch various “next gen”/”current gen” games for the WiiU platform.
