The last few years for game development have been a troubled one. Marred with difficulties spurred by the pandemic, it’s a wonder how even some titles managed to release. Yet, while many push back dates and look to the future, some consider the troubled too much to handle. After all, a few years of development that a publisher isn’t happy with can be detrimental to a project’s life. Yet, while so many still get produced, it’s a wonder when a publisher actively decides to cancel a project. Despite this, cancellations can come in many forms with various reasons given. Yet, what’s worse is a project’s shelving for a later unannounced time. This can cause so much innumerable stress for both the developers who have worked continuously and the fans who have been waiting patiently. While rare, it can still be a genuine reality for some games. Such is the case with Ubisoft’s next upcoming game, The Settlers, which is facing a delay indefinitely.

When Was Ubisoft’s The Settlers Planned Release?
Marketed as a reboot for the Ubisoft franchise, The Settlers comes from an extensive history of titles from Ubisoft. The title recently saw a re-release of the seventh game on Steam in 2019. Yet since the franchise has been on some thin ice with a marred development period in the new game. While recent playtests just occured in preparation for the March 17th release date. Yet while fans are eager to see the title in action, Ubisoft is deciding to shelve the title indefinitely. Less than two weeks before the planned release, Ubisoft isn’t happy with the game’s final state. Despite fans and critics stating that the new title was a good starting point, the release date is being pushed to an unannounced date. While The Settlers will more than likely end up seeing release sometime in the future, no date has been set currently, which is very concerning.
