Video games based on Marvel’s properties are increasing at an astounding pace, many of which are confirmed, rumored, or under development. Currently, multiple video game development studios are working on different properties. Insomniac is working on two titles based on Marvel IPs, Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine. Skydance is also working on a Marvel game with a plethora of franchises. EA is rumored to be making a Black Panther game. Firaxis is working on the highly anticipated Marvel’s Midnight Suns. And there were rumors going around about Ubisoft working on a Blade video game based on the upcoming Marvel movie. But sadly, those rumors have just been squashed by the French developer.

Rumors About The Blade Game

The rumors about the Blade game weren’t too unreasonable, to begin with. It started out as Actors E. Gaffney and Alex Martin shared pictures of a Ubisoft motion caption session on their social media. The pictures showed the Ubisoft logo on the suits worn by the actors, and then another image that showed off Marvel as the production. This indicated that Ubisoft was working on a Marvel game and the running theory was that it was probably a game based on the sunglasses-wearing, sword-wielding vampire hunter, Blade. The rumor only gained more traction when the clapperboard in the pictures mentioned B. Tariq as the director since he is working on the Blade MCU movie, which is planned to come out by November this year.

The rumors seemed very convincing, and the source of the leak confirmed that it was entirely in the realm of possibility, but Ubisoft itself denied the existence of any such game. Ubisoft said, “sorry to slice up the rumors,” but the company was not working on a Blade game. Then the tweet went on to express interest in Marvel’s upcoming movie.

Sorry to slice up the rumors, we’re not making a Blade game but we can’t wait to see what our friends at @MarvelStudios are cooking up for next year’s movie!

Perhaps Another Marvel Game?

Die-hard believers of the rumor were quick to point out that Ubisoft just denied working on a Blade game but did not deny working on a Marvel game. Keeping the hope alive, the mocap photos could be nothing but a game considering the Ubisoft logos. Looks like fans have no other option but to wait for an official confirmation at this point.
