This year’s Game Awards plan to include several first looks at new upcoming games, but fans got a short peek at the next chapter for Ubisoft’s Far Cry series one day early. In a short trailer released on social media, it appears players will be dealing with the aftermath of some sort of nuclear outcome.
Having only just released Far Cry 5 in March of this year, it seems a little too early to be announcing a new game. But the more Far Cry the better. The, let’s call it a teaser, 50-second video starts off with a bang, as a mushroom cloud suddenly appears in the background surrounded by farmland. Viewers can hear the narrator saying “None of us were ready for the end.” It continues with more poetic words as a buzz saw flies out of a cloud of smoke. The narration make sit seem like the game will take place years after the radioactive detonation.
Tune in for a worldwide reveal at #TheGameAwards on December 6, at 5:30PM PST/8:30PM EST.

The trailer shows off stunning looks at the landscape of the country with mountains in the distance. Eventually we get our first look at a person, however, it is not clear if it’s the narrator of the trailer. There isn’t much to go on regarding the story or setting.
Four years past between the release of Far Cry 4 and 5. So it makes me wonder if this new announcement will be Ubisoft going off the path and releasing a standalone title or their own version of a battle royal game. However, there was only a year gap between Far Cry 3 and 4. So perhaps development teams have been hard at work on the untitled Far Cry for some time. We’ll just have to wait until Ubisoft shows more at The Game Awards.
Fans will get a closer look at the next game in the Far Cry series when The Game Awards airs live December 6th.
