Since their titular release of Life is Strange, DONTNOD has cemented themselves as the company for narratively driven experiences. They’re incredibly deserving of that title, especially since Life is Strange is currently my third favorite game ever.  That and their recent title Tell Me Why is both groundbreaking and just a wonderful experience period. They aren’t stopping there though. Today, DONTNOD has released Twin Mirror, a new narrative adventure produced with Shibuya Productions (Shenmue III, Astroboy Reboot). You can check out the chilling launch trailer below.

Twin Mirror follows the story of Sam Higgs, a former investigative journalist. His best friend tragically passed away, leading Sam back to his hometown of Basswood, West Virginia (I hear you singing it, don’t think I don’t). Unfortunately, Basswood is the subject of many dark secrets, that of which Sam must uncover. In classic DONTNOD fashion though, Sam has a few otherworldly tools to help him. The first is the Double, a more empathetic and social Sam that only he can see. Sam relies on him to get through various social situations since Sam himself isn’t the greatest (right there with you, buddy). Using the Double and the Mind Palace, a place where he can assemble clues, Sam must revisit his troubled past if he is to save the town and move on.

In Twin Mirror, every one of your choices shapes Sam’s investigation. Depending on what you say, choose, and find, you could have an entirely different experience from someone else. That’s where the fun comes in here. The question is, how will you shape his story? If you’re interested in finding out, Twin Mirror is available on PC through the Epic Games Store, PS4, and Xbox One. It can also be played on all next-gen consoles if you so desire.
